Bringing Hope and Opportunity to Serere and Luuka
In January 2025, AsOne launched a new school and health center in the rural communities of Serere and Luuka (communities 6 & 7). Led by local Ugandan leaders, these these programs are fostering dignity, self-sufficiency, and lasting community-led change.
Empowering Through Education
For many children in Serere and Luuka, access to quality education has been a challenge. According to baseline surveys conducted before AsOne’s involvement in the communities, over 1 in 4 households did not have access to quality education in Luuka and 1 in 10 households did not have access to quality education in Serere.
The new AsOne schools are changing that reality. With over 350 students enrolled at AsOne Primary & Nursery School - Serere and over 150 students enrolled at AsOne Primary & Nursery School - Luuka, children in these communities now have the opportunity to receive a high-quality education.
Since the school year began, students have been thriving in well-equipped classrooms, taught by dedicated teachers, receiving access to technology, and supported by a Christ-centered environment that fosters both their education and spiritual growth.
Strengthening Healthcare Access
Healthcare is a fundamental right, yet many families in rural Uganda face significant barriers to accessing quality medical care. Baseline surveys revealed that more than 1 in 4 households in Luuka and 1 in 10 households in Serere lacked access to a quality health center.
To bridge this gap, AsOne established health centers in both communities, providing essential services at affordable costs. Since their launch, Healing Grace Medical Center - Luuka has already treated over 150 patients and Healing Grace Medical Center - Serere has served almost 200 patients.
These facilities offer critical healthcare, including general outpatient services, maternal and child care with ultrasound screenings for expectant mothers, and immunizations against preventable diseases. With accessible, quality healthcare now in their communities, families can receive the care they need, building a healthier and more self-sufficient community.
