Our Model
In each community, we use donations to build a high quality school, health center, farm, and business. This investment builds long-term programs, unlocks local resources, and creates opportunities for transformation.
How it works
Invested Donations
It is simple yet powerful: donations are utilized to build and to launch holistic Uganda programs through a school, health center, farm and business in rural communities.
Sustained Programs
Through a revenue generating model we build to sustain operational programming expenses in Uganda.
Transformative Impact
As a result, these programs are led by local Ugandans and create jobs, educate students, provide health services, establish vocational training programs, and equip smallholder farmers.
Ugandans Empowering Ugandans
At the core, we believe our investment into communities mobilizes a movement of Ugandans empowering Ugandans. Our strategy brings dignified opportunities for the people of Uganda to address their country's most challenged places.
Addressing the major issues that face rural communities
As a result, our work is not only led by local Ugandans, they are addressing the major issues facing rural communities across the country by building local economies, creating jobs, educating students, providing health services, establishing vocational training programs, and equipping smallholder farmers.
Discipleship
Across our program areas and communities, our first priority is to participate in God’s redemptive work in the world. Discipleship to Jesus runs through all our work, binding it together into a cohesive whole. From our own AsOne employees to the alumni we send out from our schools, we invest in their walk with Jesus and track discipleship indicators like how often they engage spiritual disciplines, attend worship services, and spend time with Christian community.
Education
We believe in investing in the future of Uganda. Education is the foundation of our work and community development approach. Our model focuses on building schools that become financially sustainable. These schools are a dedication to raising up engaged citizens, future leaders, and an active workforce in Uganda.
Health
Particularly in rural communities, consistent and quality healthcare access can be a challenge. We lean into this challenge by operating health centers that bring these services to some of the hardest-to-reach areas. AsOne clinics are built to communicate dignity. Whether patients are getting treated for malaria, receiving prenatal care, or community health programs, they consistently receive quality services at an affordable price.
Agriculture
AsOne farms and farmer training programs are the “front lines” of our model. In each community, we operate a farm that generates revenue and serves as a demonstration site for new farming techniques. We also run a farmer training program that mobilizes a network of local leaders (Village-Based Advisors) to distribute improved agriculture materials and train smallholder farmers across their districts in improved farming techniques. This program improves crop yields and family income stability.
Economic Development
There is a phrase in Uganda that we love that says, “Don’t be job seekers; be job creators.” We’re dedicated to creating quality jobs and careers in each community that we work. Our goal is to ensure that our interventions result in increased economic growth for individuals and families.
