Transforming Lives Through Healthcare

Four out the five AsOne health clinics have been open for less than a year — so far, the impact they’ve had is changing lives.

Kaberamaido

A five-year old named Ronnie was referred to an ENT specialist in a city called Soroti that is 40 miles from Kaberamaido after he accidentally pushed grains of sorghum into his nose and was having difficulty breathing. His family couldn’t afford to travel to the specialist and decided to bring him to Healing Grace Medical Center in Kaberamaido.

After assessing the situation and putting Ronnie on oxygen, a few hours later the staff was able to remove the sorghum, and Ronnie was able to be taken off oxygen. Ronnie’s family was thrilled and full of thanks. The moment changed their lives and made an impact on both community members who heard the story and the medical team at the clinic. It brought them joy to see a life saved, and it is the reason they never get tired of waking up every day to go to the clinic ready to love and serve!

Rwanyabihuka

A mother arrived at Rwanyabihuka’s clinic with her two day old baby, Malon, who was unconscious and had a fever. The clinic team quickly put Malon on oxygen and did a blood test diagnosing him with Malaria and neonatal sepsis. Medications were prescribed and after a few days Malon was discharged in healthy condition. The family was overwhelmed with joy because of the services available at Healing Grace Medical Center. They never imagined a clinic in such a rural setting having oxygen services, a Complete Blood Count Machine, and qualified medical staff to handle such complicated conditions.

Three months later the parents visited the clinic with their sweet baby and appreciated the staff for saving the life of their son. Moments like this motivate our teams to keep serving their communities with love and care.

Meet Moses Mukisa

Before Moses started in his current role, he was hired as part of the team who was helping with construction at AsOne’s headquarters in 2019. After the project was completed, Moses approached AsOne’s Executive Director and asked if he could have the role of managing the landscaping of the compound. His request was approved, and Moses has been with AsOne since! Today his role includes cleaning the clinic, organizing the compound, landscaping, and procuring items for repairs at the headquarters and Namayemba clinic.

Moses was inspired to work for AsOne because he sees AsOne as an organization that will last for many years and in turn provide him with work for many years.

Before joining AsOne Moses didn’t have a home and had nowhere to stay; he couldn’t pay school fees for his children. Now he is earning money to sustain his family, he has a home, and three of his four children are in school, and he is able to pay their school fees. There are even times when family or his parents ask him for support, and he is able to give it to them.

Working for AsOne has exposed Moses to many things and he says it’s opened his mind and given him many friends. Ever since he’s joined AsOne he’s seen his fellow Ugandans empowering him, and it means a lot to him to see Ugandans equipping him, empowering him, and helping him grow.

Using the skills and exposure Moses has received from working at AsOne, he is equipping those around him like he has been through being part of AsOne. Moses is a leader in the church in his village, and he is helping those in his church grow spiritually and physically.

Moses says his heart is happy. His hope is to educate his children and construct a home. He’s praying that AsOne doesn’t stop with the five communities they’re currently working in but expands to others as well!
